Inside The Mouse Castle 03-08-2016 - Marvel at Disney California Adventure, 'Star Wars' on Blu-Ray and 'High School Musical 4'

Disney's Zootopia opened last weekend with record-breaking box office numbers for a March release. Naturally, Anthony and I didn't bother to see it. No worries, we'll both rectify that this week. A 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes certainly got our attention. 

Disneyland's announced April 2 closure of Super Hero HQ caught us all by surprise. What will be next for the Star Wars Launch Bay's attic? A preview center for Star Wars Land maybe? And what will happen when Captain America and Spider-Man are sent packing to DCA? Will the Mad T Party be replaced by a Mad A (for Avengers) Party? It's time to get some rumors started.

Here's what else we've got Inside The Mouse Castle this week:

• Keep those calendars marked. The Jungle Book begins sneak peek screenings at DCA and Disney's Hollywood Studios on March 18. Frozen--Live at the Hyperion opens at DCA May 27 and Rivers of Light, the new nighttime water show at Disney's Animal Kingdom, debuts April 22.

• It was no coincidence the Walt Disney Company had its annual shareholders meeting in Chicago last week. It was a fitting reminder that the Windy City was where Walt was born. To mark the occasion, Bob Iger announced that the Company would donate $250,000 towards the restoration of the Walt Disney Birthplace.

Disney Cruise Line will add two new ships in 2021 and 2023.

• Disney Cruise Line will launch two new cruise ships in 2021 and 2023, bringing their fleet total to six. The as-yet-unnamed ships will have 1,250 staterooms each and will be larger than DCL's current biggest ships, the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy.

• Star Wars: The Force Awakens comes out on Digital HD on April 1 and Blu-ray on April 5. Want a little variety with your trip to a galaxy far, far away? Retailers Target, Walmart, Best Buy and the Disney Store are all offering unique packaging and/or bonus materials.
• Big Hero 6 is moving to the small screen. An animated series based on the hit film will debut on Disney XD in 2017.
• A live-action movie version of The Nutcracker Suite? Disney is working on it and Lasse Hallstrom (The Hundred-Foot Journey, Chocolat) is slated to direct.

• Ten years after the original High School Musical hit big for the Disney Channel, casting calls are going out for High School Musical 4. Jeffrey Hornaday (Teen Beach Movie) will direct.

Inside The Mouse Castle 01-12-2016 - Disneyland's Rivers of America, 'Black Panther' and the Golden Globes

Anthony and I dropped by Disneyland last week to get our last looks at the Rivers of America, the Disneyland Railroad and Big Thunder Ranch/Trail/BBQ before they close. We report back from our visits in today's Inside The Mouse Castle and look ahead to the changes coming to the northwest corner of Walt's original park (a rerouted river and a Star Wars something or other).

We also chat about a few other items:

• Actor John Boyega likes the look of the Star Wars VIII script, calling it "much darker" than The Force Awakens. Should we expect The First Order Strikes Back?
• Ryan Coogler (Creed) has been tapped to direct Marvel's Black Panther. The movie will star Chadwick Boseman and Andy Serkis and is scheduled for a February 2018 release.

• Pixar's Inside Out took the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film on Sunday night, but how will it fare with the Oscars? We'll find out Thursday at 5:30 a.m. PT when the Academy Award nominations are announced.
• A retrospective of Disney artist Mel Shaw's work will open at the Walt Disney Family Museum on January 13 and run through September 12. It will be curated by film producer (and friend of The Mouse Castle) Don Hahn.

Inside The Mouse Castle 10-26-2015 - 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens,' 'Jessica Jones' and 'Tower of Terror'

Okay, we're not quite done with this yet. Because our timing was off a bit last week, Anthony and I are taking the opportunity today to really break down the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. Join us as we attempt to answer the burning question, "Where is Luke Skywalker and what did J.J. Abrams do with him?"

We also talk about how the explosion of online ticket sales for The Force Awakens crashed sites like Fandango.com and MovieTickets.com in an onslaught that was eight times higher than any previous movie pre-sale.

Seriously, this stuff is crazy.

Here's what else is going on this week Inside The Mouse Castle:

• The new trailer for Marvel's Jessica Jones looks dark, ominous, violent...and absolutely amazing. The series starring Krysten Ritter and David Tennant launches on Netflix November 20. 

• DisneyLife will launch in the U.K. next month. It will offer classic Disney films, television series and even books in a media streaming service that sounds like a cross between Netflix, Disney Movies Anywhere and iTunes. 
• Bob Iger has been inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame. It's good to be king.
• Disney is developing a new theatrical movie based on the Tower of Terror theme park attraction. We kind of hope it's better than the 1997 made-for-TV flick starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst.

Inside The Mouse Castle 10-12-2015 - Marvel, Pixar, 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and Kevin Corcoran

We've got plenty of movie news for you this week Inside The Mouse Castle. Marvel announced Ant-Man, closing in on $500 million at the box office worldwide, will get a summer tent pole sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, in 2018. That move will bump Black Panther to a February 2018 release. Meanwhile, Captain Marvel will move from a primo holiday season release in 2018 to a less showy March 2019 premiere. It's clear Marvel is hedging its bets on untested characters while giving the now-proven Ant-Man a second shot at the summer spotlight.

Over at Pixar, our hopes for a sooner-than-later Incredibles sequel have been dashed. Incredibles 2, written and directed by Brad Bird, won't see daylight until summer 2019. Toy Story 4, the sequel no one expected, will hit theaters in June 2018. That moves the sequel no one wants, Cars 3, to summer 2017. After next month's The Good Dinosaur, the lone non-sequel in the mix, the Lee Unkrich-directed Coco, is slated for November 2017.

Here's what else Anthony and I are checking out this week:

• Star Wars: The Force Awakens will have its world premiere in Los Angeles on December 14 ahead of its wide release in the U.S. on December 18. Surprise, surprise, that's all we know for now. No specific venue has been announced yet.
• Fourteen year-old native Hawaiian Auli'i Cravalho will voice the title character in Walt Disney Animation Studios' Moana, opening in U.S. theaters November 23, 2016. She's cute. We like her. And we can't wait to see the John Musker/Ron Clements-directed Polynesian adventure. 

• Disney is working on a live-action flick based on Cruella de Vil. Didn't Glenn Close do this already? Twice?

Riley's First Date?

• Pixar's Inside Out arrives on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere on Tuesday. It'll hit Blu-ray on November 3. The movie is awesome, but the appeal of catching it on video is to see Riley's First Date?, the super-funny short cartoon about how Riley's parents react when a <gasp!> boy shows up at the door. 
• Rest in peace, Kevin Corcoran. The former child star and Disney Legend passed away last week at the age of 66. He made multiple TV appearances on the original Mickey Mouse Club as the annoying, but fun-loving character Moochie. He also appeared in numerous Disney films including Old Yeller, The Swiss Family Robinson and Toby Tyler. Corcoran gave up acting as a child and went on to have a successful career as a producer/director in television and film.
• Guests were stranded more than two hours Saturday when a Monorail train broke down at Walt Disney World between the Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary Resort. All passengers were eventually rescued and no injuries were reported. 

• Next March, Disney Infinity will launch Marvel Battlegrounds, a play set where up to four super heroes can do battle with each other against a backdrop of villainous exploitation by Loki and Ultron.

Inside The Mouse Castle 08-10-2015 - D23 Expo Preview

In this week's Inside The Mouse Castle, Anthony and I let our imaginations run wild, speculating on what big announcements will come out of this year's D23 Expo. We're already wrong on one idea. At the time we recorded the show, J.J. Abrams hadn't yet announced there would be no new Star Wars footage at the Expo.

Whatever. It happens.

The three-day Disney fan event opens this Friday at the Anaheim Convention Center. I'll be there, taking in as much of the show as I can, but mostly standing in line a lot. And unlike many of the Mouse faithful, I won't be camping out overnight to be first in line for anything.

What secrets do you think will be revealed this weekend? Will attendees get what they want from the show? Will there be details about Disneyland's anticipated expansion and Disney's Hollywood Studios' renovation and rebranding? Will "Star Wars" fans get a full-blown trailer for "The Force Awakens"? What else can we expect from Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Animation? Does anyone really care about Avatar Land?

Inside The Mouse Castle 06-15-2015 - 'Inside Out' Premieres, 'Tomorrowland' Flops, 'Phineas and Ferb' Ends

Inside Out had its Hollywood premiere last week, gearing up for its U.S. wide release this Friday. On this week's episode of Inside The Mouse Castle, we hear from the film's director, Pete Docter, and the some of the voice cast including Amy Poehler, Bill Hader and Lewis Black.

I expect Pixar's journey into the mind of an 11-year old girl to be a sure-fire hit while Anthony thinks the film, as good as the early reviews are, is going to under-perform at the box office. It won't do as bad as Tomorrowland, though, not by a long shot. The Brad Bird film starring George Clooney is having a dismal run in theaters and could put Disney in the red $140 million or more. 

And, Disney or not, no movie conversation this week is complete with mentioning Jurassic World, so we'll touch on that too, plus these other mind-bending topics:

• In the story that won't die, is Asa Butterfield really out of the running to be the next Spider-Man? Are Tom Holland, Charlie Plummer and Matthew Lintz the new favorites?  Who knows? Because apparently Marvel and Sony can't agree on anything concerning the franchise.
• We now know the voice cast for Pixar's The Good Dinosaur. After a series of production delays, including a director change and a reworking of the story, the film will open in the U.S. on November 25th.
• Have you seen the new teaser trailer for Zootopia yet? I think it looks cute. Anthony, not so much.

• Frozen Ever After is coming to Epcot's Norway pavilion next year, taking over the space once occupied by Maelstrom. Guests will be able to experience a "Winter in Summer Celebration" courtesy of Queen Elsa in the kingdom of Arendelle. That includes a trip to Elsa's ice palace (see above). 
• Two new restaurants are coming to the Disney Springs (aka the revamped Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World): The Edison and STK Orlando. It's the latest in a long list of new shopping and dining establishments added to the area. Is it starting to be too much of a good thing? Disney Springs is a far cry from the quaint Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village us old-timers remember from the 1970s and 80s.
• Star Wars will be in Hall H of this year's San Diego Comic-Con. Marvel will not. Next.

• Goodbye, Phineas and Ferb. We'll miss you. Well, we'll be missing new episodes. I'm sure you'll be rerunning on Disney Channel and Disney XD for a long time to come.
• J.K. Simmon is joining the voice cast of Gravity Falls. We hope he doesn't throw a chair at Grunkle Stan.

Inside The Mouse Castle 02-16-2015 - Spider-Man Returns to Marvel, Cinderella's Waist Shrinks and Mad T Party Comes Back to DCA

Spider-Man is finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we couldn't be happier. Last week, Marvel and Sony announced an agreement to jointly produce films featuring the web-slinger. Sony will retain creative control of the character in a stand-alone film (with more to follow, we're sure) set for release on July 18th, 2017. Marvel, meanwhile, will be able to use Spider-Man in MCU films, which will be critical to the story line in next year's Captain America: Civil War. Anthony and I have the word on how this will affect other upcoming Marvel releases in this week's episode of Inside The Mouse Castle. We also chime in on these tasty tidbits:

• Big Hero 6 has quietly moved into the third place on the list of Disney's highest grossing animated films in the U.S. It now trails only The Lion King and Frozen in domestic box office.
• Is Cinderella looking a little too thin around the waistline to be believed? The latest trailer for Disney's new live-action film has people wondering whether, like mice morphing into horses, the little cinder girl's tiny tummy is a CG effect as well (check 1:11 and 1:54 in the video).

• Will Hermione Granger and Professor Trelawney reunite in Beauty and the Beast? We already know Emma Watson is on board to play Belle, but now Emma Thompson is rumored to be talking with Disney about playing Mrs. Potts in the live-action reboot of the classic animated film. 
• Will Pixar's "Day of the Dead" movie be the studio's first musical? Songwriter Randy Newman let slip a bit of information that has us thinking this is the case for the Lee Unkrich-directed project.
• Pete's Dragon has started shooting in New Zealand. Mickey Rooney, Red Buttons, Shelley Winters and Helen Reddy aren't in it. [sigh]
• We already knew that Frozen was headed to Broadway, but now we've confirmed that the movie's songwriting team of Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez will be penning additional tunes for the stage adaptation.
• Star Wars is headed out to sea. In 2016, select Disney Fantasy cruises will feature a Star Wars Day at Sea with character meet and greets and special activities for adults and kids.

• Arrivederci, Luigi's Flying Tires. The Cars Land attraction in Disney California Adventure closed for good on Monday. We'll miss it, but even we admit it wasn't that great a ride.
  
• Freeze the Night will do what nighttime entertainment does in summer: make way for the return of Mad T Party at DCA on May 22nd. Any chance we'll ever get ElecTRONica back? Any chance the Hollywood Land "backlot" will be anything else in the daytime other than cluttered access to Mike & Sulley to the Rescue? Hey, who misses Superstar Limo?

• The Walt Disney World Speedway along with the Richard Petty Driving Experience is going away. Buh bye.
• Now open at the Walt Disney Family Museum is Lights! Camera! Glamour! The Photography of George Hurrell. The exhibition runs through June 29th and includes over 50 prints and items from the renowned celebrity photographer and artist.

Inside The Mouse Castle 12-22-2014 - Christmas at Disneyland

Merry Christmas from Inside The Mouse Castle!

It was a busy, fun-filled weekend at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure as Anthony and I both enjoyed the resort's Christmas finery. In today's episode, we share our festive experiences, which means a lot of talk about Frozen Fun, which has pretty much taken over the resort. Arendelle is now a permanent part of the Storybook Land Canal Boats while Freeze the Night is a cool replacement (see what I did there?) for the Mad T Party in Hollywood Land at DCA. Meanwhile, Anna and Elsa are now holding court at their Royal Welcome meet-and-greet inside the Animation Academy. It's by appointment only, so be sure to grab a Fastpass early. 

Anthony and I also offer our takes on it's a small world holiday, the Jingle Cruise, snoap, Haunted Mansion Holiday, Freeze the Night beverages and a lot of other seasonal Disney stuff. Considering it's Anthony's first holiday trip to Disneyland ever and my first Christmas trip in 15 years (how is this even possible?), we've both got a lot to cover.

We've also riff on a few other non-holiday items:

• Pixar's groundbreaking 1986 animated short Luxo Jr. was added to the Library of Congress's prestigious National Film Registry. Directed by John Lasseter, it's a sweet, silly vignette about two Luxo lamps interacting with an inflatable ball. Luxo Jr. was the first fully computer animated film to be nominated for an Academy Award. The film's characters have gone on to become iconic symbols of Pixar Animation Studios.
• The Marvel Experience debuted in Phoenix over the weekend, the first stop on a nationwide tour. It's an interactive, multimedia attraction where guests join forces with the world's greatest superheroes to battle Hydra and their evil army of Adaptoids.
• Orlando Bloom has let it be known that he's in talks with Disney to return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise as Will Turner. The fifth Pirates installment, Dead Men Tell No Tales is slated for release in Summer 2017.

Inside The Mouse Castle 12-15-2014 - Club 33 Meets 21 Royal Street, Oswald's 'Empty Socks' and 'Star Wars' Trading Cards

Is there a new restaurant opening next door to Disneyland's Club 33? Is it just a private dining room? Is it for Club 33 members only? Will it ever be open to the general public. What the hell is the fuss all about?

In the latest Inside The Mouse Castle, Anthony and I take on the growing controversy (that seriously doesn't need to be one) over the announced opening of 21 Royal Street. It's a small dining venue for groups of no more than 16. It's geared for Club 33 members, but Disney hasn't ruled out opening up reservations for non-members at a later date. Time will tell. What we do know is it will be open for business sometime in January or February. Stay tuned. 

Also on today's show:

• A long lost Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon was discovered in Norway. Empty Socks was the 12th of 26 Oswald shorts released by Walt Disney from 1927 to 1928.
• Star Wars: The Force Awakens trading cards? Sure, why not? Entertainment Weekly gave us a tease from J.J. Abrams identifying who some of the new characters are in the recently released trailer. Will there be an actual set of Episode VII trading cards? We can only hope.
• At an event sponsored by Variety last week, Bob Iger announced that upcoming theme park attractions based on Star Wars would use the newer movies as their inspiration. I guess that means there no speeder bike races on Endor anytime soon.
• A new trailer for Pixar's Inside Out has been released. It's good.  I mean really good.

• Will Spider-Man ever make the crossover into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Apparently Marvel and Disney have been talking to Sony about it. That's one of the less traumatic revelations to come out of Sony's uber-embarrassing mass hacking. There's still time to work Spidey into Captain America: Civil War. Just sayin'.

Inside The Mouse Castle 11-04-2014 - Fire on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Disney Movies Anywhere and the Walt Disney Family Museum

It was a hot time in the old mine Saturday night. Stray embers from a firework at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom set fire to a building in the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. The blaze was quickly put out and there were no injuries but the video we saw made it look anything but minor.

Here are some of the other scorchin' topics Anthony and I take on in this edition of Inside The Mouse Castle:

• Halloween has come and gone at the Disney parks, which means they're leapfrogging Thanksgiving and going straight to Christmas. We've got our likes and dislikes inside the berms this holiday season.
• Disney Movies Anywhere, once an Apple-only app is now available on Google Play and Android devices. By cross-platforming, Disney has turned DMA into a must-have app.

• There are more Marvel rumors to speculate on and get excited about: Tom Hiddleston will be in Avengers: Age of Ultron as Loki and Jessica Chastain might be Captain Marvel in 2018.
• We're pretty sure Star Wars: Episode VII has wrapped filming in London. Can a teaser trailer for the December 2015 release be far away?
• There are two new exhibitions opening at the Walt Disney Family Museum in November. All Aboard: A Celebration of Walt's Trains opens November 12th and The Lost Notebook opens November 26th. Get thee to San Francisco.

Inside The Mouse Castle 10-28-2014 - Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3, Oh My God It's Amazing!

reveals (kind of) Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I think it was payback for the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer being leaked online.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige wanted to tease us, do a little bait and switch just when we thought we had it all figured out. At Tuesday's fan and press event in Hollywood, he revealed the complete slate of Marvel films through 2019--with a fair share of misdirection. At first, we were led to believe Captain America 3 would be subtitled Serpent Society, flying in the face of all the gossip mill rumors that asserted Cap 3 would be all about Civil War. Media outlets exploded with the news and Facebook and Twitter went right along with them. 

Ha ha! Gotcha. We're going with Civil War after all.  And here's Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Evans to tell you and about it. And, oh by the way, let's introduce the character of Black Panther to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and let's bring out the guy that plays him, Chadwick Boseman (42, Get On Up). Oh yeah, he'll get his own movie in 2017.

It was almost as good as the "untitled Marvel movie" scheduled for release on May 4, 2018 that turned out to be part one of Avengers: Infinity War, the first half of the epic conclusion to Phase 3 of the MCU. 

You Marvel folks sure know how to work up a crowd.

In addition to the next two films (Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man) which we already know a bit about, Marvel announced nine new titles and release dates spanning the next five years:

In the latest installment of Inside The Mouse Castle, Anthony and I break down all the titles and point out the ones worth getting excited about. Hint: Black Panther will be Marvel's first African American title character, Captain Marvel the first female title character (What? you never heard about Carol Danvers?). We also discuss who didn't get their own movies (Black Widow, Hulk), but will still play critical roles in the upcoming films.

Inside The Mouse Castle 10-24-2014 - 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Trailer, 'Big Hero 6' in Tokyo and England's Offensive Frozen T-Shirt

After watching the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer about 20 times each, Anthony and I break down what we like best about this amazing preview in the latest edition of Inside The Mouse Castle. 

It's going to be a dark time for Earth's Mightiest Heroes as they confront Ultron, a high-tech creation originally intended for peacekeeping, but instead hell-bent on destroying mankind. Ultron is voiced by James Spader and we can't think of anyone better to voice the maniacal robot.

Okay, maybe Christopher Walken. Christopher Walken would be a cool crazed villain. 

In the trailer we can already see the groundwork being laid for the rumored "Civil War' story line set to begin in Captain America 3. Even as the Avengers unite to battle a common enemy, you can see the conflict among them building. Thor fights Tony Stark and in the most epic confrontation of all, Stark dons the jaw-dropping Hulkbuster armor to take on Bruce Banner's green alter ego. If you couldn't get excited previously, now is the time to be absolutely giddy about this epic superhero film scheduled to open in the US on May 1, 2015.

Also in this episode:

• We really like Mark Ruffalo as the current version of Bruce Banner/Hulk, but his predecessor in the role, Edward Norton, has some interesting things to say about why he opted out of continuing the franchise.
• Marvel is developing a new comic book hero who is hearing impaired. We're impressed with Marvel's willingness to create such a character, but we think the results are kind of lame.

• Baymax (aka Big Hero 6) premiered Thursday at the Tokyo International Film Festival. Producer John Lasseter commented about his appreciation of Japan and the influence it had on the film. Meanwhile, Anthony and I speculate on what the best restaurant would be in the east-west mashup city of San Fransokyo.
• Progress continues on the restoration of Walt Disney's Laugh-O-Gram building in Kansas City. Thank You Walt Disney, Inc. has plans to convert the two-story office building where Walt started his animation career into a digital production studio and museum. Construction could begin as early as the end of 2015.

• On Saturday, October 25, you can play Disney Infinity at Disney Interactive Studios in Glendale and at the same time support the Extra Life program to help sick kids at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. • Let's get dangerous! Darkwing Duck is returning to comics (no TV show, dammit) in 2015.

• Some hyper-sensitive parents in England are complaining that a shirt sold at H&M featuring Elsa from Frozen is obscene and inappropriate for their kids because the ice queen is making a V-shaped gesture offensive to Brits. Funny, all we see is her making snow. Some people need to let it go already.

Inside The Mouse Castle 10-17-2014 - 'Dr. Strange,' Deadmau5 vs. Disney and Walt's Renaissance Man

We love our rumors here at The Mouse Castle. Marvel's Dr. Strange rumors, Pirates of the Caribbean rumors, even Pete's Dragon rumors (no, really). We've got them all and more in this edition of Inside The Mouse Castle.

• DC announced a slate of new films that will go head-to-head against the Marvel Cinematic Universe at least through 2020. Will moviegoers care as much about Superman, Batman and the Justice League as they do Iron Man, Captain America and the Avengers? Or is this all superhero overkill that will soon burnout audiences?
• Deadmau5 turned up the heat in his trademark dispute with Disney. The music producer and performer otherwise known as Joel Zimmerman says Disney approached him about writing music for Star Wars Rebels and a proposed Fantasia remix album even as Disney Legal was preparing to take action against him. Deadmau5 performs wearing an oversized helmet that Disney says is way too similar in style and appearance to Mickey Mouse.
• Disney is putting their time and money behind ten start-up companies through the Disney Accelerator program. The companies, mostly in the tech and gaming sectors, just completed a 15-week mentorship program that could result in ongoing partnerships and even acquisitions by Disney.
• Flamingo Crossing, a new hotel, dining and entertainment complex, recently broke ground on the west side of Walt Disney World property. Is this finally the harbinger for a long-rumored fifth gate at the resort? Anthony and I think this is probably the same old tired rumor we've been hearing for years.
• There's nothing like getting serenaded by the Dapper Dans as you fly to Walt Disney World. Disney pulled out all the stops for passengers aboard Southwest Airlines' inaugural non-stop flight from Dallas' Love Field to Orlando. 

• It's not a surprise that Hiro and Baymax will soon be doing character meet-and-greets at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but we're very pleased to learn that the Big Hero 6 heroes will be taking up residence in space adjacent to Disneyland's under-utilized Starcade in Tomorrowland.
• We weren't certain as we were preparing the show, but now we know the new Disney Kingdoms comic book series published by Marvel will be all about Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It's set for release next spring and it's sure to be a hit with fans of Disney Kingdoms' previous Seekers of the Weird series.
• If there is one new book to add to your Disney collection, it's Marc Davis: Walt Disney's Renaissance Man. It's an incredibly rich collection of art by the late Disney animator, who besides being one of Walt's Nine Old Man and bringing Tinker Bell, Maleficent and Cruella de Vil to life was a gifted Imagineer who lent his immense talents to the development of Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, it's a small world and the Jungle Cruise. The book contains insightful essays about Davis by the likes of Don Hahn, Andreas Deja, Glen Keane, Pete Docter, Mindy Johnson and Paula Sigman Lowery. You need this.
